We have a rich history, dating back to 1971 when CIPP lining was first invented. With a new way of repairing pipes using trenchless technology, the industry was forever changed. Our company was established and named after the Latin phrase ‘in situ form’, which means ‘to form in place’. Today, we’re as innovative as we have always been and continue to develop and manufacture technology and equipment that makes pipe rehabilitation sustainable, cost-effective and time-efficient.
The Beginning1971
Eric Wood, a visionary engineer, revolutionised the world of pipeline rehabilitation with the invention of Cured-In-Place-Pipe technology. This breakthrough innovation allowed for seamless restoration without the need for disruptive and costly excavation. Insituform was founded to implement this groundbreaking approach and offer a more sustainable and efficient solution!
The Turn of the Millenium2000s
As the 2000s came, Insituform continued growing exponentially. Building on the success of CIPP, we had developed our portfolio over the last 30 years including ultraviolet curing technology, pressure line, and lateral rehabilitation solutions. Our commitment to comprehensive research, development and manufacturing solidified us as a leader in the industry, just like we continue to be today.
The Strategic Shift2009
As our business grew, our primary focus in the UK shifted to solely manufacturing. To support this shift, our co-brand MTC was born and we were able to maximise product delivery to the market. With our expert knowledge and passionate team, we felt honoured to be able to provide engineers, contractors and distributors with technology of the highest quality. While we continue to provide training and advice for installations, our true gift lies within the creativity, expertise and longevity of our products.
The Holding Company: Aegion2012
In a strategic move that marked a significant shift in the industry, Aegion Corporation emerged as the holding company for Insituform and MTC. This development was born out of both Insituform and Aegion’s commitment to be global industry leaders, protect and support communities, and build a more sustainable future. Under the umbrella of Aegion, both Insituform and MTC have continued to thrive and innovate.
